About this property

Glovers Cottage is an exceptional and sympathetically restored two-bedroom period home, tucked away on a quiet lane in the centre of this well-regarded Cotswold town. Charlbury grew as a centre of glove-making during the 17th and 18th centuries and Glovers Cottage, true to its name, is part of the town's important heritage, having been one of several glove factories in the town during this time. Now an established home, the property unfolds over two well-proportioned levels where historic details have been preserved and enhanced.

The front door opens directly into a wide reception room with dual aspect windows, and wood burning stove. An exposed brick chimney breast with a steel mantel adds texture, and timber beams run overhead. The kitchen/dining room is positioned at the rear of the plan, characterised by its large bifold windows that frame the tranquil courtyard garden and promote an excellent quality of natural light. The kitchen has been thoughtfully laid out, with units lining two walls, leaving plenty of space for a large central dining table. The cabinetry is traditional timber shaker style with contrasting dark worktops. Additionally there is a wood burning stove with small oven and hob, and underfloor heating. Adjacent to the kitchen is a good size utility room with a window to the garden with home office potential.

An oak staircase from the reception room leads to the first floor where semi vaulted ceilings provide a wonderful sense of space and light. There are two bedrooms including a principal suite with a feature chimney breast, and lime plastered walls. The second bedroom is dual aspect with a pared-back colour pallet. A restored cast iron antique bathtub creates a striking focal point in the large bathroom, in addition to a walk-in double shower, oak flooring, tiled splashbacks and brass accents.

Externally, there is a courtyard garden with a right of way for rear access and a raised seating area. Parking is on street.
